I'm about to buy a circular saw and i just want to make straight, perpendicular cuts without having to worry about it too much. i was all set on the kreg guide for $40 but it's only 24". i've seen other guides that are basically a straight edge and a clamp. seems easy to have one end 1/16" off from the other.. You can't cut as deep with a circular saw, even without a guide. the size of the blade aside, you'd need to buy one of the giant timber framing saws to hit the power on a table saw. add in the guide and you get another 1/8" loss or whatever. getting a reliable 90 on a circular saw is pretty tough.. /r/woodworking is your home on reddit for furniture, toys, tools, wood, glue, and anything else that has to do with woodworking as a hobby or profession. please submit links to how-to pages and videos, pictures of beautiful and amazing pieces you made for us to admire, or help you finish..
